Using Netflix on your Android phone

Welcome to Netflix on your Android Phone! Use this article to learn about Netflix features and how to set up and sign out of your account. If you’re unsure if your device supports Netflix, follow the steps on the “Set up Netflix” tab to attempt to locate the Netflix app.

Netflix Features

Netflix is available on many Android phones running Android 2.2 or later. The current version of the Netflix app requires Android version 4.0 or later. Devices running earlier versions of Android OS (as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) will be prompted to download a compatible, earlier version of the Netflix app.

Netflix streaming features on supported devices include:

Tap Genres to look for a title in a specific genre. Tap Search to search for a certain title. To fast forward and rewind, tap anywhere on the screen, then slide your finger along the progress bar to skip backward and forward through the title. Press the back button to exit the movie. Tap the stars to rate a title.

Supported Regions:
Netflix supports streaming to Android devices in all regions where the Netflix service is available.

Android phones currently support streaming in 480p.

Subtitles & Alternate Audio:
During playback, press the Subtitles and Alternate Audio icon at the top of the screen to configure subtitle and alternate language audio.

Set up Netflix

To connect your Android phone to your Netflix account, make sure you are on the Home screen and follow the steps below.

Note: The steps may vary slightly, depending on if the device was customized by you or the device manufacturer. Netflix is compatible with Android devices running Android version 2.2 or later. The current version of the Netflix app requires Android version 4.0 or later.

If you have any trouble with the steps below, visit your Android device manufacturer's website.

  1. Tap the Play Store application.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass in the upper right corner.
  3. Search for Netflix.
  4. Tap the Netflix application in the list.
  5. Tap Free and then OK.
  6. The installation is complete when the notification bar at the top of the screen displays "Successfully Installed Netflix."
  7. Exit the Play Store.
  8. Find and launch the Netflix application.
  9. Enter your Netflix email and password and continue.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Sign out of Netflix

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow the steps below.

  1. Launch the Netflix application.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Netflix app.
  3. Tap Account or Sign Out.
    • If you don't see an Account or Sign Out option, tap the Menu button on your Android device (usually located next to the Home button).
  4. Confirm that you would like to sign out of your account.

Netflix in HD

Netflix is available in HD on the Android phones below.

  • Google Nexus 6
  • LG G3 (D850, D851, D855, LS990, US990, VS985)
  • Motorola Moto X 2014 (XT1092, XT1093, XT1095, XT1096, XT1097)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910A, SM-N910P, SM-N910T, SM-N910V, SM-N910R4)
