This error happens when an issue with data stored on your device stops Netflix from playing.

To fix the problem, follow the steps for your device.

Smart TV

Restart your device

  1. Unplug your device from power.

  2. Press the power button on the device once and wait 1 minute, or leave it unplugged for 3 minutes instead.

  3. Plug your device back in.

  4. Turn your device on and try Netflix again.

Sign out of Netflix

  1. Go to the Netflix home screen, then go left to open the menu.

  2. Go to the bottom of the menu, then go right and select Get Help.

  3. Select Sign out.

  4. Sign back in, then try Netflix again.

If your device is on an error screen:

  1. Select More Details.

  2. Select Sign out or Reset.

  3. Sign back in, then try Netflix again.

If you can't find Get Help or Sign out:

  1. Using your remote, press these buttons in this order: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.

  2. On the menu that appears, select Sign out, Reset, or Deactivate.

If you use a Vizio Smart TV and get this issue after following the steps:

Contact the device manufacturer

These steps may remove apps, data, or settings saved on your device. Before you continue, make sure to have your Wi-Fi name and password and Netflix sign-in information ready.

To fix this issue, you'll need to contact the company that made your device.

When you talk to them, ask for their help with these steps. After each step, try Netflix again to see if it fixed the problem.

  1. Update your device's firmware or software to the latest version.

  2. Restore your device to its original settings, like when you first got it.

If they can't fix the problem or these steps don't work, you'll need to use a different device to watch Netflix.

Streaming media player

These steps can fix this error on devices that connect to a TV, like streaming sticks, media players, Blu-ray players, or Apple TV.

Restart your device

  1. Turn off your device. If your device has a power cable, unplug it.

  2. Make sure your device is completely off, not just in sleep or standby mode.

  3. Leave your device off for 15 seconds.

  4. Turn on your device and try Netflix again.

Sign out of Netflix

  1. Go to the Netflix home screen, then go left to open the menu.

Reset the Netflix app

  1. On your remote, press the Xfinity button.

  2. Press the A button.

  3. Scroll to the right and choose Reset Netflix, then Reset Netflix again to confirm.

  4. Choose Restart Netflix.

  5. Try Netflix again.

Contour set-top box

Restart your device

  1. Unplug your device from power.

  2. Press the power button on the device once and wait 1 minute, or leave it unplugged for 3 minutes instead.

  3. Plug your device back in.

  4. Turn your device on and try Netflix again.

Reset the Netflix app

  1. On your remote, press the Contour button.

  2. Press the A button.

  3. Scroll to the right and choose Reset Netflix, then Reset Netflix again to confirm.

  4. Choose Restart Netflix.

  5. Try Netflix again.

Roku

Reset the Netflix app

  1. On the Netflix error screen, select More Info or More Details.

  2. Select Sign out, Reset, or Deactivate.

  3. Select Yes to confirm.

  4. Sign back in and try Netflix again.

Restart your device

  1. Turn off your device. If your device has a power cable, unplug it.

  2. Make sure your device is completely off, not just in sleep or standby mode.

  3. Leave your device off for 15 seconds.

  4. Turn on your device and try Netflix again.

Remove and re-add Netflix

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.

  2. Highlight the Netflix app and press the star (*) button.

  3. Choose Remove channel > Remove.

  4. From the home screen, choose Streaming Channels.

  5. Choose Movies & TV > Netflix > Add Channel.

  6. Choose Go to channel.

  7. Try Netflix again.

PlayStation 3

Restart your device

  1. Unplug your device from power.

  2. Press the power button on the device once and wait 1 minute, or leave it unplugged for 3 minutes instead.

  3. Plug your device back in.

  4. Turn your device on and try Netflix again.

Delete saved game data

  1. Go to the PS3 Home Screen by pressing the PS button > Quit > Yes.

  2. Go to Game.

  3. Go to Game Data Utility and highlight Netflix.

  4. Press the Triangle button.

  5. Choose Delete.

  6. Choose Yes.

Reinstall the Netflix app

Uninstall the Netflix app

  1. Go to the PS3 Home Screen by pressing PS button > Quit > Yes.

  2. Go to the TV/Video Services section and highlight Netflix.

  3. Press the Triangle button.

  4. Choose Delete.

  5. Choose Yes.

Reinstall the Netflix app

  1. Go to the PS3 Home Screen by pressing PS button > Quit > Yes.

  2. Go to the TV/Video Services section and choose Netflix.

  3. Choose Yes to download it.

Xbox 360

Check available disk storage

  1. Press the Guide button.

  2. Choose Settings > System > Storage.

Your Xbox needs more than 8 MB of free space to watch Netflix. If you don't have enough free space, delete some data from your Xbox.

Uninstall and reinstall the Netflix app

Uninstall Netflix

  1. From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to Apps > My Apps.

  2. Highlight the Netflix app.

  3. Press the X button for app details.

  4. Choose Delete > Yes.

Reinstall Netflix

  1. From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to Apps.

  2. Choose Netflix to download the app.

  3. Try Netflix again.

All other devices

Restart your device
