Using Netflix on your Nintendo Wii

Welcome to Netflix on your Nintendo Wii! Use this article to learn about Netflix features and how to set up and sign out of your account. If you’re unsure if your device supports Netflix, follow the steps on the “Set up Netflix” tab to attempt to locate the Netflix app.

Netflix Features

Netflix is available on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U.

Nintendo Wii

Netflix streaming features for your Nintendo Wii include:

Navigation:
You can browse rows of movie posters, press B to bring up a list of all genres, or select the Search button to find movies.

Supported Regions:
Netflix supports streaming to the Nintendo Wii in all regions where the Netflix service is available.

Resolution:
Watch movies in 480p resolution.

Subtitles & Alternate Audio:
Select the Audio and Subtitles icon to turn on subtitles and alternate language audio if they are offered by the movie or TV show.

Kid-friendly content:
Select the Kids option from the main Netflix menu to view content appropriate for kids 12 and under.

Nintendo Wii U

Netflix streaming features for your Nintendo Wii U include:

Navigation:
You can browse rows of movie posters, or select the Search button to find movies by title, director, or actor.

Supported Regions:
Netflix supports streaming on the Wii U in all regions where Netflix is available.

Resolution:
Watch movies in 1080p resolution.

Subtitles & Alternate Audio:
Select the Audio and Subtitles icon during playback to turn on subtitles or alternate language audio if these options are offered by the movie or TV show.

Kid-friendly content:
Select the Kids option from the main Netflix menu to view content appropriate for kids 12 and under.

Watch on GamePad:
During playback, tap the icon at the upper right of the screen to toggle video between the GamePad and your TV.

Set up Netflix

To connect your Nintendo Wii to your Netflix account, download the Netflix Channel from the Wii Shop Channel, then follow the steps for your device below.

Nintendo Wii

  1. From the Nintendo Wii Home Screen, select the Netflix Channel.
  2. Once launched, select Start to enter the channel.
  3. Select Sign In.
  4. Enter your Netflix email address and password, then select Continue.

Nintendo Wii U

  1. From the Nintendo Wii U Home screen, select the Netflix icon.
  2. Once the application launches, select Member Sign In.
  3. Enter your Netflix email address and password then select Continue.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Sign out of Netflix

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow the steps below.

Nintendo Wii

  1. Select the Wii icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the Wii Home screen.
  2. Select Data Management.
  3. Select Saved Data.
  4. Select Wii.
  5. Select Netflix.
  6. Select Erase.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. Press Back until you return to the Wii menu.

If you no longer have direct access to this device, you can disconnect it from the Netflix website.

Nintendo Wii U

Sign out of Netflix

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow the steps below.

  1. From within the Netflix application, use the arrows on your remote to enter the following sequence:
    • Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.
  2. Select Sign out or Deactivate.
  3. You will now be given the option to sign in as a different Netflix member.

*If you are unable to bring up the screen to sign out or deactivate, please make sure you are using the remote that came with your device as some universal remotes may not work correctly to enter the sequence.
