Netflix Games Community Guidelines
At Netflix, our goal is to entertain the world, and we want Netflix Games to be a safe space to be enjoyed by as many of our community members as possible.
To help ensure players experience a welcome and enjoyable environment when playing or interacting with our games, these Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) outline the core values we expect each player to uphold when interacting with one another. We provide some examples of prohibited behavior, but these Guidelines may not cover every situation. If your behavior is harmful, disruptive, or goes against the letter or the spirit of these Guidelines, we may take proportionate enforcement or disciplinary action that we determine may be necessary as described below. Lack of awareness of the Guidelines does not excuse a violation, and we recommend reviewing them from time to time.
These Guidelines supplement the Netflix Terms of Use, which govern your use of our service, including accessing and playing games on Netflix. Keep in mind that individual games may have additional guidelines for their communities that may also apply to you. If you see or experience any behavioral misconduct that violates the Netflix Terms of Use or these Guidelines, please report it immediately via the applicable game’s in-game reporting system, if available, or by contacting Netflix Games Support. These Guidelines and the guidelines of specific studios are not mutually exclusive. We regularly review and update these Guidelines, as well as our internal moderation processes and tools, in light of new risks, player feedback, and evolving legal requirements.
Our values.
We want Netflix to be a safe, fun, and fair playing environment for everyone. Help us maintain a great gaming environment by following the principles below and encouraging others to do the same.
I. Encourage positive behavior and good sportsmanship
We believe that a positive gaming environment is built on cooperation, respect, and good sportsmanship. Encouraging these behaviors helps create a more enjoyable experience for everyone, especially new or less skilled players.
We also encourage showing empathy and support to players who may be struggling with emotional or mental health issues. If you or someone you know is struggling, information and resources are available at www.wannatalkaboutit.com.
Our expectations
I. Be respectful and inclusive
To keep Netflix welcoming and inclusive for everyone, hateful or explicit conduct is strictly prohibited. Our games should be an approachable, respectful, and fun environment for all players, regardless of how they may identify. We do not tolerate spreading, promoting, amplifying, or encouraging violence, hate, bigotry, or extremism in our games or any part of our service.
II. Play fairly and honestly
Maintaining a level playing field is integral to fair gaming. Cheating, hacking, exploiting glitches or bugs, or using third-party software or manipulating your connection to our servers to gain unfair advantages is prohibited.
III. Use our services appropriately
At Netflix, we aspire to entertain the world - and our games offerings are no different, so please use and enjoy our games services in the manner they are meant to be played and experienced. Manipulation, exploitation, abuse, or other fraudulent use of our services will not be tolerated.
IV. Respect the rights and privacy of others
Protecting your own privacy and respecting the privacy of others is important. Do not share your own personal information with other players, including your account credentials, like your email and password, or personal details, such as precise real-world location, real full name, or phone number.
We may take stronger action where violations put someone at risk of physical, emotional, financial, or reputational harm, especially in the case of minors or other vulnerable individuals.
V. Keep it legal
Netflix is available in countries all over the world and we require users to respect all applicable laws while using our services. Engaging in, featuring, encouraging, offering, or soliciting illegal activity is prohibited.
Where required or appropriate, we may refer suspected illegal activity to law enforcement or other authorities.
How We Enforce These Guidelines
Moderation and Consequences of Misconduct
We use a combination of automated tools and human review to help with our enforcement efforts, and aim to take prompt, diligent, and proportionate action to remove content or prevent conduct that we suspect violates these Guidelines.
When we take enforcement or disciplinary action in response to Guideline violations, our primary objective is not to punish, but rather, to protect everyone's experience and well-being. While our top priority is to remove and address the disruption or harm caused by the prohibited behavior, our corrective action also aims to encourage that player to reform their behavior.
Being part of the Netflix community carries with it the responsibility and commitment to adhere to these Guidelines. Therefore, if your conduct violates these Guidelines, we may take a number of enforcement or disciplinary steps that we determine may be necessary to protect other players and Netflix, including issuing warnings, removing inappropriate content, temporarily or permanently suspending your access to a game or game feature, and potentially permanently banning your Netflix account or reporting the violation to law enforcement.
Repeat or Severe Offenses
For the majority of cases, when suspensions or other corrective action end, we welcome players back so they can participate in Netflix games in positive ways. We know people make mistakes, and we believe lapses in judgment can be opportunities for growth. However, critical offenses including but not limited to illegal activity or threats of physical harm may result in an immediate, permanent ban from the Netflix service or games. Similarly, we may also permanently ban or suspend your access to the Netflix service or games in cases where you or anyone using your account consistently fails to uphold these Guidelines and our attempts to correct repeated negative behaviors are unsuccessful. We also reserve the right to take enforcement action against players who frequently submit unfounded reports or baseless claims without any evidence to support them.
Tell us when something isn’t right
You can help ensure our community stays fair, fun and inclusive by reporting misconduct through the applicable game’s in-game reporting system, if available, or by contacting Netflix Games Support. If you witness any illegal activity, behavior that violates these Guidelines, or behavior that threatens the safety of our players, please report it immediately through these channels. Reports are reviewed and evaluated for appropriate action by our trained teams.
When you make a report: please use the in-game reporting tools where available; include as much detail as you can; and make reports in good faith and do not submit false or malicious reports.
If you believe a moderation decision (action against an account or content) was made in error, you can dispute or appeal by notifying us via the applicable game’s in-game reporting system, if available, or by contacting Netflix Games Support and explaining which action you are appealing and why. We aim to review appeals promptly and will let you know whether we uphold or change our decision, which we reserve the right to determine at our sole discretion. For technical reasons, we may not always be able to restore previously blocked content, but we can restore access to games or features if a sanction is reversed.
