How to use Netflix on your Sony TV or Blu-ray player

Learn about Netflix features on your Sony TV or Blu-ray player, and how to set up and sign out of your account. If you don't know if Netflix works on your device, follow the steps in the “Set Up Netflix” section.

Netflix is available on many Sony devices, including Sony Android TVs and Sony Google TVs.

  • Sony BRAVIA Android TVs (2018 or newer models)

Picture adjustments
Select newer Sony TV models have a Netflix Calibrated Mode so you can watch Netflix in the originally intended picture quality. Netflix Calibrated Mode can be turned on by going to your TV settings, selecting modes, and then turning the setting on. Learn more about Netflix Calibrated Mode.

To connect your Sony TV, Blu-ray player, or home theater system to your Netflix account, make sure you are on the Home screen and select the option below that best describes your device.

  1. Press the Netflix button on your remote.

  2. Select Sign In.

  3. Enter your Netflix email address and password.

  4. Select Sign In or Continue.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

  1. Using the arrow keys on your Sony remote, navigate left or right to highlight the Video or Apps option.

  2. Press up or down to navigate to Netflix.

  3. Select Netflix.

    • If you are prompted to register the device with Sony, follow the on-screen instructions for their registration.

  4. Select Sign In.

  5. Enter your Netflix email address and password.

  6. Select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

  1. Press the Home button on the wireless keyboard remote.

  2. Select All Apps.

  3. Use the arrow keys on the left side of your Sony Google TV remote to navigate to the Netflix app, then press OK.

  4. Select Sign In.

  5. Enter your Netflix e-mail address and password.

  6. Select Continue.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

To sign out of your Sony TV, Blu-ray player, or home theater system from your Netflix account, begin from the Home screen and select the option below that best describes your device.

  1. Navigate to the Google TV Home Screen (If in doubt, press the Home Key).

  2. Select All Apps.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Applications.

  5. Select Manage Applications.

  6. Use the directional arrows to scroll until you see Netflix, then select it.

  7. Select Clear Data and press OK when prompted.

  1. Go to the Netflix home screen, then go left to open the menu.

  2. At the bottom, select Get Help > Sign out > Yes.

    Note:If you don't see Get Help, go up and select Settings.

If you can't find Get Help, Settings, or Sign out:

  1. Using your remote, press these buttons in this order: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.

  2. On the menu that appears, select Sign out, Start Over, Reset, or Deactivate.

Netflix is available in Ultra HD on most Sony Ultra HD TVs. To stream in Ultra HD, you will need:

Netflix is available in Dolby Vision and HDR on select Sony TVs and Blu-ray players. To stream in Dolby Vision or HDR, you will need:

  • A smart TV that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR10 and Netflix.

    • If you're using an HDR-capable Blu-ray player, you'll need to connect it to an HDR-capable smart TV via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port.)

  • A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.

  • A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.

  • Streaming quality set to Auto or High.
