Below you can find answers to commonly asked questions about taxes on your monthly Netflix bill.

How is the tax amount determined?

  • Tax rates vary by country, state, territory, and even city, and are based on the rates applicable at the time of your monthly charge. These amounts can change over time with local tax requirements.

Does the monthly Netflix charge include VAT or GST?

  • This varies by country and depends on local regulations. Unless otherwise stated, Netflix charges will include VAT or GST in countries where VAT or GST is collected. In those countries, VAT or GST tax is included in the advertised Netflix price.

Why don’t I see my Tax ID information on my billing invoice?

  • Tax IDs are only collected in countries where it is required by law. For privacy reasons, we do not provide this information on your billing invoice. Please note that Netflix is for personal use and cannot be claimed as a personal or business expense.

United States only: How do I submit my tax exemption information?

Argentina only: Sales tax in Argentina

  • On June 27th, 2018 a new 21% sales tax on digital services took effect in Argentina.

Uruguay only: VAT in Uruguay

  • On January 1, 2018, a 22% value added tax (VAT) was applied to digital services in Uruguay. This tax is stated separately on your monthly invoice, which can be accessed in the Billing Details section of your Account page.
