Netflix Error W8157-80004004

The error you're seeing is typically caused by:

  • An issue with stored information or settings on the device
  • An issue with the device connecting to your Network

Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.

Windows 8

Perform Windows Updates

You may need to install important updates to resolve your issue.

  1. Go to the Charms Menu by pressing the Windows Key + C.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Select Everywhere from the drop-down menu.
    • If you do not have a drop-menu continue to step 4.
  4. Search for "WUAPP."
  5. Select the WUAPP App.
  6. Select Check for Updates.
  7. Select Install Important Updates.
  8. Once the updates are installed, try Netflix again.

Ensure you have an up-to-date Windows 8 graphics driver

You may need to obtain a graphics driver compatible with Windows 8. If you are unsure how to do this, contact your computer manufacturer for further assistance.

  • If there is no graphics driver compatible with Windows 8 available for your computer, play in desktop mode.
  • If you have updated to the most recent graphics driver compatible with Windows 8 and are still experiencing this error, contact your computer manufacturer.

Windows 10

Update the Netflix app
  1. Select Store from the Start screen or the Taskbar.
  2. Select the User Icon to the left of the search box.
  3. Select Downloads or Updates.
  4. Select Check for Updates.
  5. Select the down arrow on the right to download the Netflix update.
  6. The Netflix app will now be downloaded and updated.
