Using Netflix outside of your home

Netflix is easy to use when on the go or traveling. Use Netflix as usual to watch on your portable devices - like a tablet, laptop, or mobile phone - or sign into a new TV, like at a hotel or a holiday rental.

Second home or frequent travel to the same location

If you have a second home or travel frequently to the same location, follow these steps:

  • From the main place you watch Netflix, connect to the internet, open the Netflix app or go to Netflix.com on a web browser on your portable device once a month, and stream a TV show or movie for a few seconds to establish a connection.

  • Then take the same steps when you arrive at your second location to continue watching Netflix without interruption.

When watching outside of the country you signed up for Netflix in, you might experience small differences to:

  • Selection of TV shows and movies: Choices for streaming and downloading (including audio/subtitle options) vary by country. Also, My List and Continue Watching titles may not be available.

  • Different maturity ratings: Maturity ratings and classifications are shown for the country you are in. If you have parental controls set that use a different rating system than the country you’re visiting, titles may be available (or unavailable) due to the differences in the maturity ratings.

  • Downloads: Current downloaded titles on your phone, tablet, or computer may not be available while in a different country.

Note:
Gift cards and other cash payment methods vary by country and may not be available or eligible for use in your travel location. Please remember to top up your account or add a backup payment method before traveling.

If you’re getting ready to move or recently moved, see Moving with Netflix for some things to be aware of.
