If a TV show or movie isn't bright enough, you might need to change the brightness level or the High Dynamic Range (HDR) settings on your device.
Mobile phone or tablet
To adjust brightness on a phone or tablet
Tap the screen while a TV show or movie is playing.
Slide the brightness indicator up or down.
You can also change screen brightness by swiping down from the top of the screen and adjusting your device's brightness slider.
To turn HDR on/off in the Netflix app (if applicable)
If you have a Premium plan and a device that's HDR-compatible:
Open the Netflix app and choose a profile.
In the lower right, tap My Netflix .
In the upper right, tap the Menu .
Tap App Settings .
Next to HDR Playback , tap the toggle switch to turn HDR on or off.
Go back to watching Netflix.
TV or streaming device
To adjust brightness on a TV
The steps for changing the brightness or HDR settings are usually different for each brand and type of device.
To find them:
Check the manual or instructions that came with your device.
Contact the device's manufacturer, or search their website for help.
Note: Because the steps are specific to each device, Netflix Customer Service can't assist with them.
Open the Netflix app, then choose a profile.
On the Netflix home screen, press the back button on your remote to get to the menu.
If the menu is at the top: Go left to your profile icon, select Get Help, then Video.
If the menu is on the left: At the bottom, select Get Help, then Video.
Choose HDR On or HDR Off.
Resume watching Netflix.
Some TVs won't have the toggle option in Netflix even if they're HDR-compatible.
