How to change your Netflix password

If you can't sign in to Netflix, you can reset your password by email or by text message if you've added your phone number to your account. If you forget the email address or phone number you registered with, you may be able to provide more information online to recover your account.

Reset by email

To reset your password by email:

  1. Tap Recover Password from the Netflix app.

  2. Select the option to reset your password by Email.

  3. Enter your email address and select Email Me.

  4. Follow the steps in the email you receive. The email typically arrives within a few minutes, and contains a link that will sign you in to Netflix automatically. Once signed in, you'll be asked to create a new password.

Note:
If you choose Sign out of all devices during the reset process, it may take up to 8 hours to fully disconnect all devices signed in to your account.

Link expired

  • The link in the email will expire after 24 hours. To send yourself another email, tap Recover Password from the Netflix app.

Didn't receive email

  1. Check additional folders (spam, junk or promotions) and any email filters you set up.

  2. If you can't find the password-reset email after checking your spam folder, try adding info@account.netflix.com to your contact list. Then resend the email to yourself.

  3. If you still don't receive the email, there may be a delay with your email provider. Please wait 5 hours, then check your inbox again.

Link doesn't work

  1. Delete any Netflix password-reset emails that you might have sent to yourself.

  2. Once you've deleted the emails, tap Recover Password from the Netflix app.

  3. Select the option to reset your password by Email.

  4. Enter your email address and select Email Me.

  5. Go back to your email and follow the steps in the new Netflix password-reset email.

If you still have trouble, use a different computer, mobile phone, or tablet to access the email, then click the password reset link.

Reset by text

  1. Tap Recover Password from the Netflix app.

  2. Select to reset your password by Text Message (SMS).

  3. Enter the phone number associated with your account.

  4. Select Text Me.

  5. You'll be sent a verification code that you will enter to reset your password. This code will expire after 20 minutes.

Note:
If you choose Sign out of all devices during the reset process, it may take up to 8 hours to fully disconnect all devices signed in to your account

Phone number not linked to account

  • If you haven't added a phone number to your account, follow the directions above to reset your password by email.

  • Once you have access to your account, you can sign in to Netflix on a web or mobile browser and Add phone number from your Account page. You can also Change phone number if the current number is no longer valid.

Recover by using billing info

If you are billed by Netflix and have forgotten your email address or phone number:

  1. Tap Recover Password from the Netflix app.

  2. Select I don't remember my email or phone.

  3. Enter the first and last name on the account, as well as the credit or debit card number on file.

  4. Select Find Account.

Note:
If you are billed by Netflix but don't use a debit or credit card, contact us to recover your sign-in information.
