Netflix says 'Device failure occurred. (500.-117)'

If you see an error on your Android phone or tablet that says

Device failure occurred. Please try again (500.-117)

It often means there's data on the device that needs to be refreshed. Follow the steps below to fix the problem.

Quit and reopen the app

  1. Go to your device's home screen or apps list.

  2. Tap and hold the app, then tap App info.

  3. Tap Force stop > OK.

  4. Reopen the app, then try again.
