Too Hot to Handle: Love Is a Game - Gameplay Questions

Stuck in the game somewhere? Wondering how something works? Have questions about in-game settings? Here are answers to common gameplay questions.

Possible spoilers below.

You can also find common gameplay questions in the game itself. While in the game, tap Settings > Tutorials for a list of available how-to-play topics.

Change avatar's appearance or name
Select your body type, skin color, name, and pronouns from the Avatar Creation screen at the start of the game. Once chosen, your avatar and name can't be changed during the same playthrough. If you do want to change them, restart the game by selecting the Seasons tab and tapping the Restart Season button.

Tapping the Restart Season button will delete all your current progress!

Change hair, outfit, or accessories
Your hair, outfit, and accessories can be changed frequently throughout the game. To change them at any point, go to your personal look book. Click on your profile card in the SEASON 1 CAST section of the Home tab and in the upper right corner select the customize icon. After confirming and saving your look, it'll be immediately reflected in-game.

Change personality stats
Unlike your appearance, you don't have to choose your personality type at the start of the game. Whether you want to be Sweet , Naughty , Agreeable , or a mix of all three, the choice is up to you! Increase a personality stat by making choices with the stat you want to increase.

Emojis with a castmate's name
The emojis next to the names of your castmates are their dominant personality type: Sweet , Agreeable , or Naughty

Filtering potential love interests
All love interests are available for romance, regardless of gender. Select romantic choices in the game with castmate(s) you want to make a deeper connection with.

The relationship meter
The relationship meter shows how close you are to your fellow castmates. It can show your romantic status with your love interest, or your friendship status with castmates that can't be romanced.

Improve relationships with other castmates
You can become closer to other castmates by making certain choices in the game. Some will increase your relationship meter, while others won't. You can't lose points that you’ve already gained.

Lana
Lana is a voice-interactive AI device that keeps a watchful eye on the castmates, gives you directions throughout the retreat, and keeps you honest when you slip up in order to encourage deeper connections that go beyond appearances.

Breaking a rule
Lana is always watching. If you break a rule, money will be deducted from the shared prize fund. Choices in the game that are rule breaks have an exclamation mark next to them. If you decide to get a little frisky, make sure you’re ready to pay the price!

Earning money
Even if you break some of the rules, a chance for you to redeem yourself might appear sooner or later. And if you pass Lana's final and most difficult test, she might reward you by returning some of that lost money back to the prize fund! Keep your eyes peeled for those opportunities!

Change outfits or hairstyles for a date
Your hairstyle and outfit can be fully customized before your date. You can even style your date. The changes you make are temporary and will only last through the date, so have fun with it!

Knowing if a date is going well
Once the date begins, picking the right choices will fill up the date meter with hearts. Love points from the date meter will be added to your relationship meter at the end of the date, so take this chance to become even closer to one of your castmates!

Your watch turns green
If Lana decides that you're forging a meaningful bond with one of your castmates, she might just turn the lights on your watches green. If that happens, all rules are off, and the sex ban no longer applies. Make sure to enjoy yourself to the fullest!

Completed achievements appearing again
Some achievements require you to perform certain actions multiple times to be completed. Check out the Achievements tab, where achievements with multiple stages will have more than one trophy icon underneath them. The higher the number of achievements, the bigger the reward – so keep collecting those trophies!

Earning in-game currency
In-game currency, or Charisma, is earned by playing the game and collecting achievements. Every time an achievement is completed, whether it's one stage or the entire achievement, you'll be awarded Charisma points. Regularly check your Achievements tab to collect your Charisma points. The number of Charisma points you've earned is visible in the upper right corner of the Achievements tab. Use Charisma to unlock bonus story content.

Bonus content
Bonus content is accessed through the cast profile cards in the SEASON 1 CAST section of the Home tab. Tap on one of the profile cards and then at the bottom of the card tap the Bonus Scenes button. These unlock as you progress in the game and can be purchased with Charisma points. Gain Charisma points by collecting achievements and enjoy behind-the-scenes looks at your favorite castmates!

Restarting a chapter
If you want to restart a chapter, tap the Seasons tab and then tap the Restart Season button.

Tapping the Restart Season button will delete all your current story progress, including your customized appearance and relationship status with your castmates.

Skipping previously read content
Once you’ve fully completed a season, you can use the skip feature to quickly access unread content, complete some of the other endings in the game, or simply experience your favorite moments again. Tap and hold anywhere on the screen to fast-forward. The skip feature will automatically stop at all of the choices, dates, and even parties, so you'll have enough information to make the right decisions.

Choice summary % on the CHAPTER RECAP screen
The % sign next to each choice shows the percentage of players that picked a particular answer. The answer highlighted in green is your pick. Check the other percentages to see how your choices compare to other players.
