Fix issues with sign-in or sign-up codes, links, or one-time passwords

If you’re having trouble signing up for Netflix with a link or signing in to your account with a code, follow the steps in the section that best matches your issue.

If you haven’t gotten a sign-up link:

  1. Make sure your email address is entered correctly.

  2. Check any junk, spam, and promotional folders in your email inbox. 

  3. If you still can't find the link:

    • Select Resend Link to resend it, or

    • Select Create Password Instead to sign up for an account with a password.

If you haven't gotten a sign-in code:

  1. Make sure your phone number is entered correctly.

  2. Select Resend code or

  3. Select Get Help, then Use password instead to sign in with your existing password.

Links and codes expire 15 minutes after they've been requested. If you've requested multiple links/codes make sure you're clicking on the most recent one sent to your email/SMS.

If you'd rather sign in with your existing password: 

  1. Select Sign In.

  2. Enter your email address or phone number and select Continue.

  3. Select Get Help to expand the menu.

  4. Select Use password instead.

  5. Enter your password and select Sign In.

Note: Even if you choose to sign in with a password, a sign-in code will still be sent by email or text message.

Below is a list of error messages you might get when clicking the link to get or enter a sign-in code, along with their fixes:

"Incorrect code."

The code you entered doesn't match the one that was sent or has already expired. Click Resend code and be sure to enter the most recent sign-in code from your email or SMS.

"Something went wrong

Please use your password instead."

You may have tried to enter the sign-in code too many times. Try to sign in using your password, or wait a few minutes and try resending the sign-in link/code again.

"New to Netflix? Enter your email address to get started, or check your mobile number and try again."

We didn't recognize the email address or phone number you entered. If you already have a Netflix account, make sure your login information is entered correctly and then try again. If that doesn't work, try using your password to sign into your account.

"We couldn't send a sign-in code to (EMAIL/PHONE). Please use your password or try again later."

We had trouble sending a sign-in link or code to the email address or phone number we have on file. Try using your password to sign in.

"Sorry, we cannot send another code right now. Please use your password or try again later."

You may have requested too many sign-in links/codes. Try using your password to sign in, or wait a few minutes before trying again.

"Something went wrong

We are having technical difficulties and are actively working on a fix. Please try again in a few minutes."

There was a problem connecting to your Netflix account. Try using your password to sign in. If that doesn't work, please try signing in again later.

"Sorry, the password for this account needs to be reset. Please reset your password to access your account."
