Netflix says 'Your extra members are on hold.'

Your extra members are on hold. Retry your payment?

Your extra members are on hold. Update your payment info to continue.

If you're getting one of these error messages, it means Netflix couldn't process your most recent extra member payment.

There are a few reasons why this is happening:

  • The payment method might not have enough money. (Pending charges or authorizations can affect the available balance on your card.)

  • The payment method has expired or is no longer valid.

  • Your bank or card issuer didn't approve the monthly charge.

  • The payment information you provided Netflix doesn't match what your bank or card issuer has on file.

  • US only: The credit card zip code on your Netflix account doesn't match what your card issuer has on file.

You can fix the issue by either updating your payment method or contacting your bank.

1. Go to the Manage payment method page. You may need to sign in if you haven't already.

2. Select the Update Payment Method button to make changes or select Change payment method to add a new way to pay.

If you still see the same error message after successfully updating the secondary payment method, try selecting Back or Refresh on your device.

If the steps above didn't work, you'll need to contact your bank or card issuer. Here are some questions you can ask to help determine why we're unable to process your payment:

  • Are there sufficient funds to cover the Netflix charge?

  • For credit and debit cards, is the card still valid, or has the card issuer recently sent a replacement?

  • For credit and debit cards, can the card be used for recurring billing?

  • Does the card or account support e-commerce transactions?

  • Was the transaction processed as an international charge? Does your account support this?

  • Was the transaction declined for any security reasons?

  • Do they see an attempted charge from Netflix? Why was it declined?

After you have investigated and addressed the issue, you can retry your payment on Netflix.com.
