Subtitles won't turn off

If you watch a TV show or movie that was produced in another region, you may not be able to turn off subtitles. Some titles may show subtitles in your region's primary language by default.

If you see the option to turn off subtitles but can't disable them, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

If you have to turn off subtitles every time you watch a Kids TV show or movie, play a title with a maturity rating of Teens or above set to your preferred subtitle language. This will save your settings for future viewing.

If changing your subtitle options to None on your 2011 or 2012 Samsung Smart TV does not turn off subtitles, we recommend using another device to stream Netflix. Because this issue only occurs on older versions of the Netflix app, you will only be able to adjust your subtitle settings by using an alternate device.

If you've turned off subtitles in the Netflix app but are still seeing them, it's likely that subtitles are adjusted on your Xbox 360 itself. To disable them:

  1. Select Settings.

  2. Select System.

  3. Select Console Settings.

  4. Select Display.

  5. Select Closed Captioning.

  6. Select Off.

  7. Save your settings and exit, then try watching your TV show or movie again.
