Netflix Error 3.1

We're having a problem connecting to Netflix. Please try again later or try an alternative network connection. (3.1)

This error means a network connection issue or setting on your Android phone or tablet is stopping Netflix from playing.

Follow these steps to fix the problem.

Check if other TV shows or movies work

If you get the same problem with other TV shows or movies, skip these steps.

If other TV shows or movies play normally, you can tell us about the problem.

  1. Using a web browser, go to Viewing Activity in your account.

  2. In the list, find the TV show or movie with the issue and click Report a Problem.

  3. Follow the instructions, then click Report Problem.

Our content teams will work on fixing the issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can still watch other TV shows and movies. For more information, go to How to report issues with a title.

Check your internet connection

You can test your device's connection by trying another app that connects to the internet. Some devices have a network test available in settings.

If other apps don't work or you get a network error, it usually means your device isn't connected.

Note:
Because the steps to connect to the internet or troubleshoot a network issue are often unique for each device, Netflix Customer Service isn't able to assist with following the steps for your device.

To get the connection steps for your device:

  • Check the instructions or manual that came with your device.

  • Contact the device's manufacturer for help connecting your device to the internet.

If your device is connected and you still have issues, go to the next steps.

Turn your device off, then back on

  1. Turn off your phone or tablet. Make sure it's turned off, not just locked.

  2. Turn it back on.

  3. Try Netflix again.

Check date and time settings

If the date or time settings don't match the current time and your location, it can cause Netflix to stop working.

  1. Open Android settings.

  2. Find Date & time.

  3. Make sure it's set to automatic or use network-provided time/time zone.

  4. Try Netflix again.
