My email address is being used on another Netflix account

If your email address is already in use when you attempt to sign up for a Netflix account, or you believe someone created a Netflix account using your email address, follow the steps below:

Netflix says my email address is already in use when I try to sign up for a Netflix account

You may have an existing Netflix account

  1. Visit netflix.com/loginhelp.

  2. Select the option to reset your password by Email.

  3. Enter your email address and select Email Me.

    • If you receive a password reset email, then follow the steps to create a new password and recover your Netflix account.

    • If you see an error that says “No account found for this email address,” continue troubleshooting below.

Your email address may be associated with a profile

You are able to add a different email address to any profile with an All Maturity rating to receive personalized recommendations and other communications from Netflix.

Email addresses associated with an existing profile cannot be used to sign up for a new account, so you will need to remove your email address from the profile.

To remove your email from a profile:

  1. Sign in to your Account.

  2. Scroll to the My Profile section.

  3. If your email has been added, click the link to Change profile email that displays beneath the profile name.

  4. Click Delete email address.

You may have a duplicate Netflix account

It’s possible that you mistakenly opened a second account by mistyping an email or using a different email address to sign in.

  1. Visit netflix.com/loginhelp.

  2. Select the option to reset your password by Email.

  3. Enter your email address and select Email Me.
