How to update Netflix account information

If you want to update your Netflix account information, follow the steps below.

To change the email address you use to sign in to Netflix, go to the Change Email page. You may need to sign in if you haven’t already.

  • If a Kids profile is active, change to another profile first and then try again.

  • You may need to confirm your identity before making a change.

  • The email address must be between 4 and 50 characters.

  • You can't change to an email address that's already used on another account.

If you can't sign in with your current password, send yourself a password reset email.


If you forgot the email address you use for your account, go to our Update password, email or phone page, tap or click I don't remember my email or phone, then follow the steps.

If you know your password and can sign in to Netflix but want to change it, go to the Change password page.

When choosing a password, it should be:

  • Different than what you use for any other websites or apps

  • At least 8 characters long

  • A mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols

  • Not easily guessed - such as “password,” “12345678,” or use any personal information (name, birthday, address)

A password manager can make it easier to keep track of unique passwords.

Adding a phone number to your account makes sign-in easier, improves account security, and can help you get back into your account if you ever forget your password.

To add, change or delete a phone number:

  1. Go to the Change phone number page. You may need to sign in if you haven’t already.

  2. Follow the instructions to confirm your identity.

  3. After confirming, you can do the following:

    • Add phone number: choose a country, enter the phone number and then choose Next.

    • Edit: make changes to the phone number and choose Next.

    • Delete: Choose Delete Phone Number.

  4. To use the new number for Netflix you'll need to confirm it's valid by entering the code we sent to your phone in a text message when you changed it. You can also verify it at this link: Confirm your recovery phone number.

Note: Only one account can have your verified phone number on it. Verifying your phone number will also remove it from any other accounts it is tied to.

If you aren't getting text messages to the phone number on your account, there could be a delay from your carrier. If the problem continues, please contact your phone carrier for help.
