Netflix is in the wrong language.

If your audio, subtitles, or Netflix profile are in the wrong language, it typically points to an issue with the settings on your profile or device. Follow the instructions below to adjust your language settings.

Change your audio language

If your preferred audio language is not listed as an option:

  1. Visit the Account section of the Netflix website.

  2. Under My Profile, select Language.

  3. Select your preferred audio language.

  4. Try to play your TV show or movie with your preferred audio again.

If your title still doesn’t play with your preferred audio, alternate audio may not be available in your language for that specific title.

If you find that you have to reset your audio every time you try to watch, play a title with a maturity rating of teens or above set to your preferred audio language. This will save your settings for future viewing.

Change your subtitle language

If your preferred subtitle language is not listed as an option:

  1. Visit the Account section of the Netflix website.

  2. Under My Profile, select Language.

  3. Select your preferred subtitle language.

  4. Try to play your TV show or movie with your preferred subtitles again.

If your title still doesn’t display the correct subtitles, subtitles may not be available in your language for that specific title. You can see which TV shows and movies do offer subtitles in your preferred language by visiting netflix.com/subtitles. If subtitles for the title are offered in your preferred language but did not display on your device, try switching to another device. The Netflix app may not support subtitles for non-Latin alphabets on devices manufactured before 2014, but newer devices do support languages that use these alphabets.

Change your Netflix profile language

To change the language of the Netflix experience on your profile:

  1. Sign in to Netflix.com.

  2. Select Manage Profiles.

  3. Select your preferred profile.

  4. Select your preferred language from the drop-down menu.

  5. Sign out and sign back in to save this setting.

Changing the language for your profile will also change the subtitle and dubbing options you see, putting your preferred language first on available titles.

In certain countries, changing your language preferences will affect the content you see on the website and your devices. We do this to ensure you’re only seeing titles that have audio, subtitles, or dubbing in the language you selected. This feature is available in Thailand, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the Dutch Caribbean islands.
