Netflix Error NSES-404

You might get the error code NSES-404 with this message:

Error Code NSES-404

This error usually means an issue with your web browser or email app is stopping the page from loading, or the page you tried to reach doesn't exist.

To fix the problem:

Go to Netflix.com using the address bar

If you usually use a bookmark to visit Netflix, try typing www.netflix.com into your browser address bar instead. If this resolved your issue, update your bookmark URL to www.netflix.com to avoid future issues.

Update your web browser

Go to Netflix supported browsers to update your web browser or get a different browser.

Clear the Netflix cookie

  1. Go to netflix.com/clearcookies. This will sign you out of your account.

  2. Select Sign In and enter your Netflix email and password.

  3. Try Netflix again.

Turn on cookies in your browser

Chrome
  1. In the upper right corner of Chrome, click MenuChrome Menu Icon, then click Settings.

  2. On the left, click Privacy and security.

  3. Click Third-party cookies.

  4. Make sure the setting for Allow third-party cookies is turned on.

  5. Try Netflix again.

Microsoft Edge
  1. In the upper right corner of the browser, click Settings and more settings and more.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Cookies and site permissions.

  4. Click Manage and delete cookies and site data.

  5. Make sure Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended) is turned on.

Firefox

  1. In the upper right, click Menu menu button, then click Settings.

  2. On the left, click Privacy & Security.

  3. Scroll down to History. Next to Firefox will, click the drop-down menu.

  4. Choose Remember history, then click Restart Firefox now.

  5. Try Netflix again.

Opera
  1. Select Menu from the upper left corner of your browser.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll down until you see Cookies.

  4. Make sure the option Allow local data to be set (recommended) is selected.

  5. Close the Settings tab to save your new settings.

  6. Try Netflix again.

Safari

  1. In the top left corner, click Safari.

  2. Click Settings , then click Advanced.

  3. Make sure Block all cookies is unchecked.

  4. Close the window, then try Netflix again.

Turn off browser extensions

Chrome

If you use Chrome, you can turn off unnecessary add-ons.

  1. In the address bar, enter chrome://extensions.

  2. Turn off any extensions that are turned on.

    Note:
    Extensions listed under Chrome Apps don't need to be turned off.
  3. Try Netflix again.

If these steps solve the problem, try turning on your extensions one by one to determine which one is preventing Netflix from working properly.

Edge

  1. In the upper right corner of your browser, click the Extensions icon.

  2. Click Manage Extensions.

  3. Turn off any installed extensions, then try Netflix again.

If these steps fix the problem, you can turn on your extensions one by one to find out which one is stopping Netflix from playing.

Safari

  1. Select Safari from the upper left corner of the browser.

  2. Select Preferences.

  3. Select the Extensions tab from the top menu bar.

  4. Uncheck the box next to each extension to disable it.

  5. Close the Extensions window.

  6. Try Netflix again.

Firefox

  1. In the upper right corner of the browser, click Menu menu button.

  2. Click Add-ons and themes, then click Extensions.

  3. Under Enabled, click the button next to each extension to disable it.

  4. Quit and reopen Firefox, then try Netflix again.

Try a different web browser

If you're trying to reset your password by email, try using a different web browser, then follow the steps to reset your password again.

If you access your email using an app on your phone or tablet, try using a web browser to open the password reset email instead.
