Netflix says 'Unfortunately Netflix Has Stopped.'

If you see an error on your Android phone, tablet, or TV that says

Unfortunately Netflix Has Stopped

It typically indicates that your app or system requires an update. Follow the troubleshooting steps for your device below to resolve the issue.

Android phone or tablet

Are you using a Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender?

If you are using a Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender, please visit the manufacturer's website and update to version 1.0.06.011 or later. If you have issues with the update, please contact Linksys support. If you are not using a Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender, continue troubleshooting below.

Update your Android OS version

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap System > System update.

  3. Check for and install available updates.

  4. Try Netflix again.

Update the Netflix app

If you're on your Android phone or tablet, open the Netflix page in the Play Store, then tap Update.

You can also update the Netflix app with these steps:

  1. Open the Play Store app. If you don't have it, you might need to fix an issue with the Play Store.

  2. In the Search bar, type "Netflix."

  3. In the list, tap the Netflix app. If you can't find the Netflix app, follow the steps in this article instead.

  4. Tap Update. If you don't see this option, the app is already up to date.

Reinstall the Netflix app

These steps will remove any TV show or movie downloads saved on your device and sign you out of your Netflix account.

If you're on your Android phone or tablet, open the Netflix page in the Play Store, tap Uninstall, then tap Install.

These steps will also reinstall the app:

  1. Open the Play Store app, then search for "Netflix."

  2. In the list, find and tap the Netflix app.

  3. Tap Uninstall.

  4. Tap Install, and wait until it's done.

  5. Tap Open, then try Netflix again.

Are you using a Lenovo Yoga tablet?

If you are using a Lenovo Yoga tablet, verify your device's model:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Select General.

  3. Select About Device.

  4. Look at the model listed under Model Number.

  • If the model listed is B8080-F or B8080-H:

    • Your device is experiencing a hardware or software problem that only the device manufacturer can solve. To get back to watching Netflix, you'll want to contact the device manufacturer. They may have suggestions for fixing the device. If they don't have additional steps, or the additional steps still don't resolve the issue, you'll need to use a different Netflix-enabled device to continue streaming.

  • If the model is not B8080-F or B8080, or if your device is not a Lenovo Yoga tablet, continue troubleshooting below.
