Netflix says 'You have downloads on too many devices.'

You might get the error code 10016-23000 or NQL.23000 with the message:

You have downloads on too many devices.
Please remove downloads from another device, or go to netflix.com/changeplan for plan options.

This error on your Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad means you've reached the maximum number of download devices your Netflix plan allows. To see your current limit, go to your Manage Download Devices page.

To fix the problem, follow one of these options and then try downloading again:

You can use the device getting the error message to remove all downloads from a different device on your account.

Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad

  1. Open the Netflix app.

  2. In the lower right, tap My Netflix.

  3. In the upper right, tap the Menu.

  4. Tap Account.

  5. Under Settings, tap Manage download devices.

  6. Tap Remove device to delete all downloads from another device.

Web browser

  1. Using a browser, go to your Manage Download Devices page. You may need to sign in first.

  2. Click Remove device to delete all downloads from another device.

You can remove all downloads directly on a device using the Netflix app.

Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad

  1. Open the Netflix app.

  2. In the lower right, tap My Netflix.

  3. In the upper right, tap the Menu.

  4. Tap App Settings.

  5. Under Downloads, select Delete All Downloads.

  6. On the confirmation screen, tap Delete.

If you need to keep doing these steps to fix the issue, you may want to sign a download device out of your account or change your Netflix plan to one that allows more download devices.
