Netflix says 'Netflix Site Error.'

If you see an error that says

Netflix Site Error
We were unable to process your request.
Please go to the Netflix home page by clicking the button below.

It typically points to information stored on your browser that needs to be refreshed, or to a network connectivity issue. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

Sign in on another device

To pinpoint your issue, sign in to Netflix on a different device using the same network as your computer.

If you are already signed in to your account on another device you will first need to sign out of Netflix, then sign in again.
  • If you see an error code or error message when you sign in or try to watch, we are currently unable to connect your account to the Netflix service. Please try to stream again at a later time.

  • If you do not see an error code or error message, continue troubleshooting below.

Clear the Netflix cookie from your web browser

  1. Go to to clear the Netflix cookie; this will sign you out of your account.

  2. Select Sign In and enter your Netflix email and password.

  3. Try Netflix again.

Restart your browser

  1. Quit your browser.

  2. Relaunch your browser.

  3. Try Netflix again.

Use an alternate browser or device

You will need to open a different browser or use another Netflix-enabled device to continue streaming.

Restart your computer

  1. Shut your computer down completely and restart it.

  2. Try Netflix again.

Restart your home network

For this step, make sure to leave your computer powered off and all of your home network equipment unplugged as a group for 30 seconds before plugging each device back in one by one.

  1. Turn off your computer.

  2. Unplug your modem (and your wireless router, if it's a separate device) from power for 30 seconds.

  3. Plug in your modem and wait until the indicator lights are back to its normal state. If your router is separate from your modem, plug it in and wait until the indicator lights are back to its normal state.

  4. Turn your computer back on and try Netflix again.
