How to set profile maturity ratings or block titles

When you set a maturity rating for a profile, that profile will only see shows, movies, and games with a rating at or below that level. You can also block specific shows or movies from individual profiles.

To set a maturity rating level for a profile:

Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad

Note: Editing the Maturity Rating level for a Kids profile must be done in a web browser.

  1. Open the Netflix app.

  2. In the lower right, tap My Netflix.

  3. In the upper right, tap the Menu.

  4. Tap Manage Profiles.

  5. Choose the profile you want to edit.

  6. Tap Viewing Restrictions.

  7. Tap Maturity Rating.

  8. Verify your identity by entering your Netflix account password.

    • If you don't have a password for your account, follow the steps under "Web browser" to change your settings instead.

  9. Set the Maturity Rating level you'd like.

Web browser

  1. Using a browser, go to your Account page.

  2. Select Profiles.

  3. Select Adjust parental controls, then choose a profile.

  4. Verify your identity by entering a code sent to your email or mobile phone number, or by entering your Netflix account password.

  5. Set the Maturity Rating level you'd like.

  6. Choose Save.

Note: Game ratings correspond to the show or movie maturity settings set for the profile. See Maturity ratings for games on Netflix for details.

Profiles with a maturity level set will only display titles that match the selected maturity rating level.

  1. Open the Netflix app.

  2. In the lower right, tap My Netflix.

  4. Tap Manage Profiles.

  5. Choose the profile you want to edit.

  6. Tap Viewing Restrictions.

  7. Tap Block Titles.

  8. Verify your identity by entering your Netflix account password.

    • If you don't have a password for your account, follow the steps under "Web browser" to change your settings instead.

  9. Type the name of the show or movie and then tap it to add to your blocked titles.

    • To remove a title from your blocked list, tap Edit and then tap the X next to the title name.

Web browser

  1. Using a browser, go to your Account page.

  2. Select Profiles.

  3. Select Adjust parental controls, then choose a profile.

  4. Verify your identity by entering a code sent to your email or mobile phone number, or by entering your Netflix account password.

  5. Under Title Restrictions, type the name of the show or movie and then select the title.

    • To remove a title from your blocked list, select the X next to the title name.

  6. Select Save.

TV shows and movies listed under Blocked Titles or Title Restrictions will be removed from that profile.

Note: Only the first 100 shows and movies that are blocked are shown. You can continue to block more titles, but you'll need to search for the title to remove it from your blocked list in the future.

Note: You might need to refresh your device to pick up the updated settings. To refresh:

  • Switch to another profile, then switch back.

  • Or sign out of your device and sign back in.
