Can't find the Netflix app

The Netflix app can be downloaded and installed from an app store on most devices, and often comes pre-installed on newer TVs and streaming devices.

If you can't find the Netflix app on your device, or the app is missing from the apps list or app store, follow these steps to fix the problem.

Android phone or tablet

The Netflix app is available in the Google Play Store only for devices with Android OS version 5 or later.

Turn off or change parental control settings

The Netflix app might be hidden by your Play Store parental controls settings.

To change this:

  1. Open the Play Store app.

  2. From the upper right, tap your Profile icon.

  3. Tap Settings > Family > Parental controls.

    • If Parental controls are on, tap the switch then enter your PIN to turn them off.

      Note:
You can turn these settings back on after Netflix is installed. To learn more, or to reset your PIN, go to Google's support page for parental controls on Google Play.
    • If your Parental controls are off, continue to the next steps.

  4. Try finding the Netflix app again.

Clear the Play Store cache

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Apps & notifications.

  3. Tap See all apps, then scroll down and tap Play Store.

  4. Tap Storage & cache.

  5. Tap Clear cache, then tap Clear storage.

  6. Try finding the Netflix app again.

Check your Android's Play Protect status

The Netflix app might not show up if your device isn't Play Protect certified.

To check your device's Play Protect status:

  1. Open the Play Store app.

  2. In the upper right, tap your Profile icon.

  3. Tap Settings > About.

  4. Under Play Protect certification, check your device's certification status.

If you see Device is certified, contact us for more help.

If your device isn't certified, you'll need to use a supported device to watch Netflix. We recommend contacting your device's manufacturer to ask for a Play Protect certified device. To learn more, go to Google's support page about Play Protect certification.

TV or TV-connected device

If you can't find the Netflix app on your TV or a device that connects to your TV, your device might need a software update. On most devices, you can check for updates and install them from the settings or system menu. To get the steps to update your device, check the manual that came with it or get help from the manufacturer.

If there aren't any available updates or your device is already on the latest version, contact your device's manufacturer for help with:

  • Checking if the Netflix app is available for your device.

  • Finding or installing the Netflix app.

If the manufacturer says the Netflix app isn't available for your device, you'll need to use a different supported device.

iPhone or iPad

Check your iOS version

To download the Netflix app, your iPhone or iPad must have iOS/iPadOS version 16 or later installed.

To check the version:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Scroll down and select General.

  3. Select About.

  4. Your version number will be listed next to Version.

If your OS version is earlier than 16 and you've downloaded the Netflix app in the past, see the Apple support site for instructions to redownload the Netflix app.

If your OS version is earlier than 16 and you haven't downloaded the Netflix app in the past, you'll need to use another device to watch Netflix.

If your iOS is 16 or above, go to the next step.

Check your parental controls settings

If you use Screen Time to restrict apps with specific ratings, it can cause the Netflix app not to be shown even if it's installed. To check the setting:

Note:
If Screen Time settings were set up for a child's device, you'll need to enter your Screen Time Passcode during these steps.
  1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.

  2. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions, then tap Content Restrictions,

  3. Tap Apps. If Don't Allow, 4+, or 9+, are selected, the Netflix app will not be shown.

To learn more, go to setting privacy settings with content and privacy restrictions on the Apple support site.
