Netflix says 'This current app version is no longer supported. Please upgrade the OS and App version.'

If you get a Netflix error code that begins with an "R" (e.g., R36-3 or R37-1) or the message below, it means the Netflix app and/or your device's operating system (OS) must be updated to a supported version to continue working.

To fix the problem, follow the steps for your device.

To update the Netflix app or the OS on your Android TV, phone, tablet, or other Android-based device, follow the steps below.

  1. From your Android phone or tablet, open the Netflix page in the Play Store.

  2. Tap Update.

If your Apple TV is enrolled in Beta Updates, you'll need to turn off this setting before following the steps below.

  2. Select System > Software Updates > Update Software.

  3. If available, select Download and Install.

  4. Try Netflix again.
