Netflix video quality

Many factors can affect video quality. See How to get the best video quality for details.

Manage data and bandwidth usage

If your internet plan has a limit to how much data you can use, you can change or lower the amount of data Netflix uses.

If your internet service provider limits how fast your internet can download, changing your video quality setting might help make your connection more stable.

Check your internet speed

If you use a mobile device or computer, open a web browser and go to Fast.com.

On other devices, like a TV or streaming stick, you can check your internet speed in the Netflix app:

If you're signed into your Netflix

  1. From the Netflix homescreen, go left to open the menu.

  2. From the bottom of the menu, go right and select Get Help.

  3. Select Check your Network.

If the check fails or shows an error, it usually means your device isn't connected to the internet.

If your internet speed is slower than you expect, contact your internet service provider for help.

If you aren't signed in

  1. Open the Netflix app.

  2. Using your remote, press these buttons in this order:

    • Up, Up, Down, Down

    • Left, Right, Left, Right

    • Up, Up, Up, Up.

  3. Select Check your Network.

If the check fails or shows an error, it usually means your device isn't connected to the internet.

If your internet speed is slower than you expect, contact your internet service provider for help.
