Netflix says 'You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy.'

If you get an error with this message:

You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy

It means your device or network connects to Netflix through a VPN, proxy, or unblocker app or service.

Netflix allows watching TV shows and movies through a VPN, but VPN, proxy, or unblocker apps and services might cause problems or change which TV shows and movies are available to watch.

If you don't know if these apps or services are active, your internet service provider (ISP) or network admin can tell you.

If you use these apps or services, try these steps:

  • Turn the app or service off and try Netflix again.

  • Reset the network settings on the device with the issue.

  • Restore your modem or router to your internet provider's default settings.

For help with these steps, contact your ISP or your device's manufacturer.

If you have an IPv6 connection:

  • Netflix will work with standard IPv6 connections.

  • Netflix doesn't work with connections that tunnel IPv6 traffic over an IPv4 network.

What to do next

If you're still having a problem but don't use these apps or services, or if you turned them off, contact your internet service provider to help:

  • Find out why your internet connection shows VPN or proxy activity.

  • Get a new IP address that matches your location.
