How to use Netflix on your Roku TV

Use this article to learn about Netflix features on your Roku TV, and how to set up and sign out of your account. If you don't know if Netflix works on your device, follow the steps in the “Set Up Netflix” section.

Supported regions
Netflix is available worldwide. Most devices will work wherever Netflix is available, but some older devices will only work in the country where they were purchased. If you're considering buying a new device, check with the manufacturer to see if it supports Netflix in your region.

Navigation
On most devices, you can browse through rows of TV shows and movies, including a row dedicated to your My List selections. Each row represents a category (for example, comedies, dramas, TV shows) that we show you based on what you’ve watched. Older devices may not have rows of categories, but do allow you to scroll through My List, which you can create using the Netflix website.

Resolution
Most devices can stream Netflix in high definition on fast internet connections and will play Netflix in their maximum supported resolution.

You can set parental controls on individual profiles.

Subtitles & alternate audio
Learn how to turn on subtitles, closed captions, and alternate audio (including 5.1 surround sound), which are available on many TV shows and movies. To check if 5.1 audio works on your device, go to any Netflix original to see if there is a 5.1 audio option. If not, this feature doesn't work on your device. To watch Netflix on your Roku TV, first create a Roku account on the Roku website. Once your account is created, follow the steps for your Roku TV below.

  1. From the home screen, select Netflix.

  2. Select Sign In.

    • If you don't see Sign In, select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.

    • If you aren't a member, set up your membership.

  3. Enter your member email address and select Next.

  4. Enter your password and select Sign In.

  5. Select Start.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

  1. From the home screen, select Netflix.

  2. Select Sign In.

    • If you don't see Sign In, select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.

    • If you aren't a member, set up your membership.

  3. Enter your member email address and select Next.

  4. Enter your password and select Sign In.

  5. Select Start.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

  1. From the home screen, select Netflix.

  2. Select Sign In.

    • If you don't see Sign In, select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.

    • If you aren't a member, set up your membership.

  3. Enter your member email address and select Next.

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Netflix home screen, then go left to open the menu.

  2. At the bottom, select Get Help > Sign out > Yes.

    Note:If you don't see Get Help, go up and select Settings.

If you can't find Get Help, Settings, or Sign out:

  1. Using your remote, press these buttons in this order: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.

  2. On the menu that appears, select Sign out, Start Over, Reset, or Deactivate.

  1. Go to the Netflix home screen, then go left to open the menu.

  2. At the bottom, select Get Help > Sign out > Yes.

    Note:If you don't see Get Help, go up and select Settings.

If you can't find Get Help, Settings, or Sign out:

  1. Using your remote, press these buttons in this order: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.

  2. On the menu that appears, select Sign out, Start Over, Reset, or Deactivate.
