Watching TV shows and movies through a VPN

VPNs (virtual private networks) can make your device or network look like it's connecting to Netflix from somewhere other than your actual location. While using Netflix through a VPN, we will only show you TV shows and movies we own worldwide, like Squid Game or Stranger Things.

If you don't see TV shows and movies that are available for your country, turn off your VPN, then try Netflix again.

Watching Netflix while using a VPN isn't supported if you have an ad-supported Netflix planLive events on Netflix can't be watched while using a VPN.

How to check if a VPN is active

  1. Using a web browser, go to fast.com to run a connection test.

  2. Wait for the test to finish, then click Show More Info.

  3. Next to Client, note the city and country listed.

If the country shown doesn't match the country you're in, it usually means your device or network is using a VPN. If you're having trouble, try turning it off.

If the country shown matches the country you're in and you're having trouble, contact Netflix Customer Service.

How to turn off a VPN

Netflix Customer Service can't help with turning off a VPN because the steps are different for each VPN or service.

To learn how to turn off your VPN, contact your VPN provider or your network's administrator.
