Using Netflix on your TiVo

Welcome to Netflix on your TiVo! Use this article to learn about Netflix features and how to set up and sign out of your account. If you’re unsure if your device supports Netflix, follow the steps on the “Set up Netflix” tab to attempt to locate the Netflix app.

Netflix Features

Netflix is available on many TiVo devices.

Netflix streaming features on supported devices include:

Navigation:
On most devices, Netflix lets you browse through rows of movies and TV shows, including a row dedicated to your My List selections. Each row represents a category (Comedy, Drama, TV shows, etc) that we present to you based on what you’ve watched. More information about how we recommend and display movies on your device can be found here.

Older devices may not have rows of movie categories, but do allow you to scroll through My List, which you can create using the Netflix website.

Supported Regions:
Netflix is available in a number of countries across the world, and most devices will work wherever Netflix is available, though some older devices will only work in the country where they were purchased. See our Supported Region Map for details. If you are considering purchasing a new device, check with the manufacturer to see if it supports Netflix in your region.

Older devices may ask you to go to netflix.com/activate to set up your device. These devices only support Netflix in the US and Canada.

Resolution:
Most devices are capable of streaming Netflix in high definition on fast Internet connections and will play Netflix in their maximum supported resolution (see our Internet Connection Speed recommendations for more information).

Subtitles & Alternate Audio:
Learn how to enable subtitles, closed captions, and alternate audio (including 5.1 surround sound), which are available on many movies and TV shows. To check if your device supports 5.1 audio, go to any Netflix Original to see if there is a 5.1 audio option. If not, your device does not support this feature. Many devices will let you customize the appearance of subtitles and captions. Older devices will display subtitles and captions in their default appearance or are not configured to display subtitles.

Set up Netflix

To connect your TiVo to your Netflix account, make sure you are on the Home screen and select the option below that best describes your device.

Series3 (HD, HD XL)

*Note: Before connecting TiVo to your Netflix account, you must enable video downloads in the account settings on the TiVo website.

  1. Press the TiVo button on the remote to access TiVo Central.
  2. Select Video On Demand.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Select Watch Instantly.
  5. Select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.
  6. A code will appear. Enter this activation code at Netflix.com/Activate.

Series4 (Premiere, Premiere XL, Premiere XL4)

  1. Press the TiVo button on the remote to access TiVo Central.
  2. Select Find TV, Movies, & Videos.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.
  5. Enter your Netflix email address and password.
  6. Select Continue.

Roamio

  1. Press the TiVo button on the remote to access TiVo Central.
  2. Select Find TV, Movies, & Videos.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.
  5. Enter your Netflix email address and password.
  6. Select Continue.

Virgin Media - TiVo

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Select Apps & Games.
  3. Select TV & Movies.
  4. Select Netflix.
  5. Enter the Parental Control PIN (the default PIN is 1234).
  6. Select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix? screen.
  7. Enter your Netflix email address and password.
  8. Select Continue.

Com Hem - TiVo

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Select Sign In on the welcome screen.
  5. Enter your Netflix email address and password.

Your device is now connect to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

TiVo Box from your Cable Provider

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Select Apps & Games.
  3. Select TV & Movies.
  4. Select Netflix.
  5. Select Sign In on the welcome screen.
  6. Enter your Netflix email address and password.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Sign out of Netflix

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow the steps below.

Series3 (HD, HD XL)

  1. Press the TiVo button on the remote to access TiVo Central.
  2. Select Video On Demand.
  3. Select Netflix.
  4. Select Netflix Account Information.
  5. Select Deactivate this device.

Series4 (Premiere, Premiere XL, Premiere XL4)

  1. From the TiVo home screen, go to Tivo central
  2. Choose Settings & Messages
  3. Select Account & System info
  4. Select Netflix Account information
  5. Select deactivate this device

Roamio

  1. From the TiVo home screen, go to Tivo central
  2. Choose Settings & Messages
  3. Select Account & System info
  4. Select Netflix Account information
  5. Select deactivate this device

Virgin Media - TiVo

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Select Apps & Games.
  3. Select TV & Movies.
  4. Select Netflix.
  5. Using the arrows on your remote, enter the following sequence:
    • Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up
  6. Select Sign Out, Start Over or Deactivate.

TiVo Box from your Cable Provider

  1. From the TiVo home screen, go to Tivo central
  2. Choose Settings & Messages
  3. Select Account & System info
  4. Select Netflix Account information
  5. Select deactivate this device
