How to change or reset your password

Changing your password

If you know your password and can sign in to Netflix but want to change it, go to netflix.com/password. You can also go to your account page and choose Change password on any non_Kids profile.

Resetting your password

If you can't sign in or can’t remember your password, you’ll need to reset it by email or text message (if you've already added a phone number to your account).

If you can’t remember the email address or phone number you signed up with, you may be able to use your payment information to recover your account.

Reset password by email

  1. Go to netflix.com/loginhelp.

  2. Choose Email.

  3. Enter your email address and tap or click Email Me.

  4. Look for an email from Netflix about resetting your password. It should arrive within a few minutes.

  5. Tap or click the link in the email to be signed in to Netflix automatically.

  6. Once signed in, you'll be asked to create a new password. Your new password can't be the same as your last password.

Link expired

  • The link in the email will expire after 24 hours. If it is expired, send yourself another email from netflix.com/loginhelp.

Didn't get the email

  1. Check for it in your spam, junk, or promotions folders, and in any email filters you set up.

  2. If you can't find the password reset email after checking your folders, try adding info@account.netflix.com to your contact list. Then send yourself a password reset email again.

  3. If you still don't get the password reset email, your email provider may be delaying it. Please wait 5 hours, then check your inbox again.

Link doesn't work

  1. Delete any Netflix password reset emails that are in your inbox.

  2. Once you've deleted the emails, go to netflix.com/clearcookies. This will sign you out and take you back to the home page.

  3. Go to netflix.com/loginhelp.

  4. Choose Email.

  5. Enter your email address and tap or click Email Me.

  6. Go back to your email and follow the steps in the new Netflix password reset email.

If you still have trouble, try resetting your password on a different computer, mobile phone, or tablet.

This password is not secure or is too common

If you see the message This password is not secure or is too common when resetting or changing your password, it means that the password you chose is on a list of compromised or commonly used passwords which we don't allow for security reasons. You’ll need to choose a different one.

Reset password by text message (SMS)

  1. Go to netflix.com/loginhelp.

  2. Choose Text Message (SMS).

  3. Enter the phone number associated with your account.

  4. Tap or click Text Me.

  5. You'll be sent a verification code by text message. Enter that code to reset your password. The code expires after 20 minutes.

  6. After entering the code, you'll be asked to create a new password. Your new password can't be the same as your last password.

Phone number not linked to account
If you haven't added a phone number to your account, you'll need to reset your password by email. After signing in, you can add a phone number at any time by going to your Account page and selecting Add phone number. If the phone number on your account is no longer valid, go to your Account page and select Change phone number.

Recover your account info using billing information

If you pay for Netflix with a credit or debit card:

  1. You’ll need your credit or debit card number.

  2. Go to netflix.com/loginhelp.

  3. Choose I don't remember my email or phone.

    • If you don't see this option, recovery by billing information isn't available in your region. Contact us for help.

  4. Enter the first and last name on the account, as well as the credit or debit card number used for the account.

  5. Select Find Account.

  6. If we can find your account with that information, we’ll send a password reset email to the email address on the account.

If you're billed through a third party and can't sign in:
