How to use Netflix on your DirecTV / AT&T TV set-top box

Use this article to learn about Netflix features on your DirecTV / AT&T TV set-top box, and how to set up and sign out of your account.

Netflix is available on select DirecTV / AT&T TV set-top boxes, listed below. Netflix streaming features on supported devices include:

Navigation
On most devices, you can browse through rows of TV shows and movies, including a row dedicated to your My List selections. Each row represents a category such as comedies, dramas, or TV shows that we show you based on what you’ve watched.

Resolution
Most devices can stream Netflix in high definition on fast internet connections and will play Netflix in their maximum supported resolution.

Parental controls
You can set parental controls on individual profiles.

Subtitles & alternate audio
Learn how to turn on subtitles, closed captions, and alternate audio (including 5.1 surround sound), which are available on many TV shows and movies. Many devices let you choose the appearance of subtitles and captions. Some devices display subtitles and captions in their default appearance, or aren't set up to display subtitles.

If you don't know your device’s model name, follow the steps in the “Set Up Netflix” section.

To connect your AT&T TV set-top box to your Netflix account, start from the Home screen and choose from the options below.

Connect from the Apps menu

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.

  2. Navigate to the Apps section of the main menu.

  3. Find and select Netflix and press OK.

  4. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

Connect from Channel 192

  1. Use your remote to navigate to Channel 192

  2. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow these steps.

Exit and sign out of Netflix

  1. Go to the Netflix Home screen.

  2. On your remote, press the Back or Last button.

  3. On the right, select Settings gear icon .

  4. Select Sign out.

  5. Select Yes to confirm.

Exit Netflix without signing out

  1. Go to the Netflix Home screen.

  2. On your remote, press the Back or Last button.

  3. On the right, select Settings gear icon .

  4. Select Exit.

  5. Select OK.

Netflix is available in Ultra HD on select AT&T TV set-top boxes. To stream in Ultra HD, you will need:

  • A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.

  • A 2014 or newer Ultra HD TV that is capable of streaming Ultra HD content at 60 Hz, connected to your set-top box via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).

  • A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.

  • Streaming quality set to High or Auto.

The following AT&T TV models currently support Netflix in Ultra HD:

  • AT&T TV (Android TV)

  • DIRECTV Gemini

Netflix is available in HDR on select AT&T TV set-top boxes. To stream in HDR, you will need:

  • A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.

  • A streaming device that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR and Netflix.

  • A smart TV that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR10 connected to your device via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).

  • A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.

  • Streaming quality set to High.

The following AT&T TV models currently support Netflix in HDR:

  • AT&T TV (Android TV)

  • DIRECTV Gemini
