If you're not seeing the Netflix app in your device's app store and your device meets the OS requirements above, go to the Can't find the Netflix app article and follow the steps for your device.
 If your device is rooted or uses a modified OS version, you might not be able to download the Netflix app. Changes to the operating system, system settings, or certification status of rooted or modified devices may cause the Netflix app to not work or function properly. Follow this step-by-step guide to get the Netflix app on your phone or tablet.
- Open the app store on your device. (It could be the Google Play Store, the Samsung Galaxy Store, or the Amazon Appstore.) 
- Tap the Search button and enter "Netflix". button and enter "Netflix".
 
- In the list, find and tap on the Netflix app. 
- Tap Install, then wait until the app is done installing. 
- Exit the app store. 
- Go to your device's home screen or apps list, then tap the Netflix app to open it. 
- Follow the steps to sign in or sign up for Netflix. If you aren't a Netflix member, learn how to sign up

Navigation
Search for titles by tapping the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the app. You can also scroll through rows of recommended genres on the home screen, or browse all genres from the menu in the upper left corner. To fast-forward or rewind, tap anywhere on the screen, then slide your finger either forward or backward along the progress bar. Press the back button to exit the movie.
Subtitles & alternate audio
During playback, tap the Subtitles and Alternate Audio icon at the top of the screen to configure subtitles and alternate language audio.
Picture in Picture (Android 8 or later)
Some Android phones and tablets allow you to watch Netflix while using other apps. Not all Android devices and operating systems are compatible. For detailed instructions and support on using Picture in Picture, contact your device manufacturer.

Because a wide variety of devices with different capabilities use the Android operating system, certain Android devices are not compatible with the download feature. If you're using the latest version of the Netflix app and are not able to download Netflix content, you will need to use a different device to use this feature.

If your Android phone or tablet is listed above or uses an HD-compatible chipset but doesn't play in HD, follow these steps.
To play Netflix in HD video quality, Android phones and tablets must use Widevine L1. Widevine allows your Android device to play videos and other content with DRM (digital rights management) protections.
To check your device:
- Open the Netflix app. 
- In the lower right, tap My Netflix . .
 
- In the upper right, tap the Menu . .
 
- Tap App Settings . .
 
- Scroll down to Diagnostics, then tap Playback Specification. 
- Next to Widevine, look for L1 or L3. - If you see L3, it means your device can only play Netflix in SD video quality. If you believe your device should have Widevine L1, contact the company that made it for help. 
- If you see L1 and Netflix doesn't play in HD, there might be an issue with your device. Try updating the Netflix app or contact us for help.
