Netflix streaming features on supported devices include:
Navigation
Search for titles by tapping the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the app. You can also scroll through rows of recommended genres on the home screen, or browse all genres from the menu in the upper left corner. To fast forward or rewind, tap anywhere on the screen, then slide your finger either forward or backward along the progress bar. Press the back button to exit the movie.
Subtitles & alternate audio
During playback, tap the Subtitles and Alternate Audio icon at the top of the screen to configure subtitles and alternate language audio.
Picture in Picture (Android 8 or later)
Some Android phones and tablets allow you to watch Netflix while using other apps. Not all Android devices and operating systems are compatible. For detailed instructions and support on using Picture in Picture, contact your device manufacturer.
Downloads
Download select titles to watch when you can't be online. See our article about downloads to learn more.
Because a wide variety of devices with different capabilities use the Android operating system, certain Android devices are not compatible with the download feature. If you're using the latest version of the Netflix app and are not able to download Netflix content, you will need to use a different device to use this feature.
Use the options below to check if your Android model can play Netflix in HD (High Definition) video quality.
In addition to the phone and tablet models listed above, Android devices using one of the following processors, or chipsets, can also play Netflix in HD.
Android devices using these chipsets can also play Netflix in HD. To find out what chipset your Android device uses, we recommend searching for your device model's hardware specifications on the web or contacting the company that made it.

If your Android phone or tablet is listed above or uses an HD-compatible chipset but doesn't play in HD, follow these steps.
To play Netflix in HD video quality, Android phones and tablets must use Widevine L1. Widevine allows your Android device to play videos and other content with DRM (digital rights management) protections.
To check your device:
Open the Netflix app.
In the lower right, tap My Netflix.
In the upper right, tap the Menu.
Tap App Settings.
Scroll down to Diagnostics, then tap Playback Specification.
Next to Widevine, look for L1 or L3.
If you see L3, it means your device can only play Netflix in SD video quality. If you believe your device should have Widevine L1, contact the company that made it for help.
If you see L1 and Netflix doesn't play in HD, there might be an issue with your device. Try updating the Netflix app or contact us for help.
