How to use Netflix on your Frontier Communications set-top box

Use this article to learn about Netflix features on your Frontier Communications set-top box, and how to set up and sign out of your account.

Netflix is available on select Frontier Communications set-top boxes, listed below. Netflix streaming features on supported devices include:

Navigation
On most devices, you can browse through rows of TV shows and movies, including a row dedicated to your My List selections. Each row represents a category such as comedies, dramas, or TV shows that we show you based on what you’ve watched.

Resolution
Most devices can stream Netflix in high definition on fast internet connections and will play Netflix in their maximum supported resolution.

Parental controls
You can set parental controls on individual profiles.

Subtitles & alternate audio
Learn how to turn on subtitles, closed captions, and alternate audio (including 5.1 surround sound), which are available on many TV shows and movies. Many devices let you choose the appearance of subtitles and captions. Some devices display subtitles and captions in their default appearance, or aren't set up to display subtitles.

If you’re unsure of your device’s model name or number, follow the steps in the “Set up Netflix” section to attempt to locate the Netflix app.

To connect your Frontier Communications set-top box to your Netflix account, start from the Home screen and choose from the options below.

Connect from Interactive Apps (VIP boxes)

  1. Press the Go Interactive button on your remote to navigate to the Interactive Apps screen.

  2. Locate the Netflix app and press OK.

  3. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Connect from Channel 800 or 1800 (VIP boxes)

  1. Use your remote to navigate to Channel 800 or 1800.

  2. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Connect from Main Menu (FiOS boxes)

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote to navigate to the main menu.

  2. Select Widgets & Apps.

  3. Locate the Netflix app and press OK.

  4. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

Connect from Channel 888 (FiOS boxes)

  1. Use your remote to navigate to Channel 888.

  2. Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In.

Your device is now connected to your Netflix account. Enjoy!

To sign out of the Netflix account on your device, follow these steps.

Exit and sign out of Netflix

  1. Go to the Netflix Home screen.

  2. On your remote, press the Back or Last button.

  3. On the right, select Settings gear icon .

  4. Select Sign out.

  5. Select Yes to confirm.

Exit Netflix without signing out

  1. Go to the Netflix Home screen.

  2. On your remote, press the Back or Last button.

  3. On the right, select Settings gear icon .

  4. Select Exit.

  5. Select OK.

Netflix is available in Ultra HD on select Frontier Communications set-top boxes. To stream in Ultra HD, you will need:

  • A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.

  • A 2014 or newer Ultra HD TV that is capable of streaming Ultra HD content at 60 Hz, connected to your set-top box via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).

  • A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.

  • Streaming quality set to High or Auto.

The following Frontier models currently support Netflix in Ultra HD:

  • VIP5662

  • VIP5602

  • FMS2

  • VIP6102W

Netflix is available in HDR on select Frontier set-top boxes. To stream in HDR, you will need:

  • A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.

  • A streaming device that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR and Netflix.

  • A smart TV that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR10 connected to your device via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).

  • A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.

  • Streaming quality set to High.

The following Frontier models currently support Netflix in HDR:

  • FMS2

  • VIP6102W
